Our latest Sexperiment set out in search of an answer to the question, "Are orgasms better during your period?" And honey, the data is about to change everything you thought you knew about period pleasure.
The Hypothesis: Will period orgasms pack more punch?
Before our Sexplorers dove into their cycles (literally), we asked the community for a little TMI.
Community Poll: Do you ever flick the bean on your period?
A majority of participants said they masturbate on their period sometimes, and only 12% said never. The remaining 33% said often.

Community Hypothesis: Will your orgasms during your period be better, stay the same, or get worse compared to your non-period sessions?
The responses were split almost even! 49% of Lioness users thought they would see no change in their orgasms and arousal, while 44% hypothesized they would see an improvement.

With such a close split, it's time to see who was right.
The Experiment: Tracking pleasure across Your cycle
Our dedicated Sexplorers tracked their masturbation sessions across two distinct phases:
NON-PERIOD Baseline Sessions: Regular cycle days—business as usual
- Average Session Length: 7 mins 51 secs
- Average Time to Orgasm: 3 mins 58 secs
- Average Orgasm Length: 48 secs

PERIOD Sessions: Menstrual phase masturbation—riding the crimson wave
- Average Session Length: 12 mins 17 secs
- Average Time to Orgasm: 5 mins 45 secs
- Average Orgasm Length: 19 secs
Longer sessions and shorter O's? What gives?!
The Results: Aunt Flo Brings the O
The data reveals some interesting insights about period pleasure that might just revolutionize how you think about pleasure during your cycle.
Period Orgasms Were Not Much Stronger
Orgasm Intensity:
- Non-Period: Average peak force of 55 gF, minimum of 33 gF
- Period: Average peak force of 54 gF, minimum of 40 gF

Translation? Your pelvic floor isn't contracting much stronger or weaker than when you're not bleeding.
Orgasm Duration:
- Non-Period: 48 seconds on average
- Period: 19 seconds on average
Here's the interesting part: while period orgasms were shorter, they packed significantly more punch by increasing overall ratings, and they elongated sessions by 45%. This is an excellent case for quality over quantity.
Conclusion: There Are Benefits to Riding the Crimson Wave
If there is one thing this sexperiment showed us, it's the power of pleasure outside of orgasm. With how easy it is to get distracted by longer, stronger, orgasms, it's always good to see data that shows improving sexual satisfaction involves all elements of masturbation, not just the big bang.
It's time to stop treating your period like a sexual intermission and start seeing it for what the data suggests it really is: a monthly opportunity for some of your most intense, satisfying orgasms.
Your cycle isn't working against your pleasure—it's working for it. The question is: are you ready to work with it?
