After 8 years of engineering smart vibrators and reading sex research papers for fun, I’m finally ready to admit that I *might* be a big sex nerd. And as someone that grew up in a religious, conservative, Korean family where I was scared of my own body well into my mid-twenties, I can't help but still chuckle to myself every time I post my orgasm data for the world to see (in the name of science, of course!). What can I say? I truly believe in the saying, “knowledge is pleasure” and I’m here to do my part and share as much knowledge as possible. :)
In the past, I’ve usually used the Lioness Smart Vibrator to measure my "typical" masturbation and orgasm data and compare it to masturbation sessions with external factors like stress, cannabis lube or even showerheads to see how it changes my orgasms. However, this time, I decided to commit to masturbating with the Lioness vibe every single day for an entire month and log every aspect of the experience: mood, arousal level, what I used to get off, etc. in order to collect as much data as possible. Then together with a wonderful data analyst, Natalie, who was very open to this wild idea of mine, we worked to find trends in the data to see if we could find any statistically significant results. Was this the best use of my spare time throughout the month? Absolutely. Would my parents agree? No one tell them why I’ve been hard to reach this month. Anyways, let's start!
The length of time for each masturbation session was all automatically measured through the Lioness vibe and app. The total time spent masturbating in the month was 3 hours 34 minutes and 58 seconds which is only about 0.5% of the month. Not bad! Within that time, I spent an accumulative total of 9 minutes and 26 seconds having an orgasm. Four of the days during the month I wasn't able/gave up trying to have an orgasm because I was feeling down and stressed about life.
The longest orgasm was on the Day 19. That day, I had used an additional toy anally for double penetration and it caused me to have an orgasm that lasted a whopping 58.6 seconds!
Data Analysis Finding 1: For every additional 10 seconds I spent masturbating, there was an increase in the orgasm length by 0.14 seconds.
- Masturbating: The longer I spend masturbating and edging, the longer the orgasms tend to be.
- Mood: Masturbating and having orgasms put me in a significantly better mood overall.
- Arousal: The more aroused I am beforehand, the more likely I am to have an orgasm and the longer the orgasms are.
